The National Botanical Garden in Vácrátót boasts the richest collection of living plants in Hungary, presenting nearly 13,000 plant species and varieties across its 27-hectare area. A true green oasis at the gateway to the Danube Bend, where visitors can learn about the wonders of the plant world, relax, and recharge their batteries.

The history of the 27-hectare park dates back to the 19th century. The Géczy family, who owned the area around the Sződrákosi stream, envisioned an English landscape garden here featuring winding paths, a lake, clearings, and a magnificent castle. Later, Count Sándor Vigyázó purchased the park, and as a result of the transformation, a romantic, sentimental, and sometimes quite wildly romantic environment was created, where a Gothic ruin is hidden behind the vegetation, a rock tunnel leads to the lakeshore, and a water mill stands next to the stream.

Due to inheritance issues in the 20th century and World War II, the area was neglected for a while. However, it eventually came into the hands of the Academy, which founded the Botanical Research Institute. In the 1950s, development of the garden finally began. The muddy ponds have been cleaned, the road network has been restored, and the greenhouses have been rebuilt, allowing us to enjoy the landscape in its full glory once again.

The garden is not only an ideal destination for botany enthusiasts but also an excellent spot for families, nature lovers, photographers, and those seeking relaxation and rejuvenation. In addition, thematic exhibitions, art workshops, and other events take place here, making the garden's life even more vibrant.

The Botanical Garden in Vácrátót is an excellent choice in every season to soak up the sights, scents, and energies of the ever-changing natural world.
