The Hungarian Dance University, a leading institution for training professional dancers in Hungary, is initiating this new ballet competition of exceptional artistic quality to promote ballet and dance arts in the country. The BBGP aims to become the most renowned and respected ballet competition in Central Europe.

It offers young dancers the chance to compete and gain exposure within the international dance community, provides scholarships and career opportunities for the most outstanding participants, and showcases the values and achievements of Hungarian culture, dance, and education to a global audience.

The competition is open to dancers aged 14 to 24 and has already attracted over 140 entries from 22 countries. From these, 80 competitors will be selected to participate.

From the outset, the organizers’ goal has been to make the event, organized by the 75-year-old Hungarian Dance University a true meeting point for the European and global dance scene.

Applications have been received from most European countries, as well as from the United States, China, South Korea, Japan, and Kazakhstan.

The semi-finals and finals of the competition will be held at the National Dance Theatre, while the closing gala will take place at the Palace of Arts, providing a beautiful finale to BBGP2025. This year's gala evening, hosted again by the Palace of Arts, will feature performances by MTE students as well as the winners and runners-up from various categories. Joint prize winners will also take part in the evening's performances.
