The Hollókő Easter Festival has attracted Hungarian and international visitors to the World Heritage Village for over twenty years. The event recalls the Palóc Easter traditions, presenting traditional folk groups, folk musicians, folk dancers, folk singers, and folk craftsmen.

The religious festivities played a distinguished role in the traditional community of Hollókő, which was complemented by the system of traditions and the rich world of legends and beliefs of the local residents.

The village dates back to the 13th century, and its castle was first mentioned at this time. The castle was built in response to the Mongol invasion. The Ottomans captured the village in the 16th century, and only at the end of the Ottoman era in 1683 did the present village spring up. The houses we see today were first built then, but their wooden nature meant that many had to be rebuilt due to fires.

The village is located in Nógrád county, approximately 91.1 kilometers northeast of Budapest, Hungary's capital. It lies in a valley of the Cserhát Mountains, surrounded by low peaks. The natural environment is protected.

The Hollókő Easter Festival and Hollókő Old Village can only be visited by purchasing an event ticket during the event period (April 19 - 21, 2025). The ticket includes the entrance fee to all the programs and some of the settlement's attractions: Hollókő Castle, School, Postal Museum, Village Museum, Guzsalyas Costume Museum, Handicraft Printing Workshop, Doll Museum, and The Playhouse.

Visit the charming jewel-box village, where the farmhouses and cobblestone streets of the Old Village take us back in time.
