Following the tremendous success of the Light Dome in March, the Budapest Zoo Biodome is set to host another captivating light art exhibition starting November 6th, lasting over a month. Light Dome 2 illuminates enchanting works by both Hungarian and international artists. The central theme of the exhibition is nature, a vast spectrum that spans from the microbiological to the cosmic, encompassing human activities. Visitors will experience site-specific installations that beautifully reveal both the power and fragility of nature, presented in interactive or symbolic forms.
The interior of the Biodome is a unique architectural marvel that immerses visitors in a captivating atmosphere. Here, the works of Hungarian and international light artists come alive through hundreds of intelligent lamps, projectors, and high-performance slide projectors, creating a mesmerizing light environment. This light art exhibition, lasting about an hour and a half, showcases site-specific installations designed exclusively for the Biodóm. Each piece is remarkable, and the special setting elevates the experience beyond any similar presentation. A stunning example is the giant three-million-liter aquarium for sharks, transformed into a breathtaking light artwork. The installations invite us to explore the relationship between nature and humanity from a new perspective. Some works engage visitors interactively, allowing them to touch the lights and space, while others symbolize the intricate bond between nature and humankind.
The Light Dome is an innovative artistic project launched by COLLOC Productions, which also curates the dynamic INOTA contemporary audiovisual festival. This initiative has gained momentum through a partnership with Centrum Production and LaLuz Visuals, celebrated for their breathtaking monumental light paintings, alongside the internationally recognized light artist, Karl Kola. The talented artists involved in the Light Dome have previously dazzled audiences at various international festivals, earning accolades and widespread acclaim for their extraordinary works. Remember, on-site ticket sales wrap up at 8:30 PM, meaning you won’t want to miss your chance to get your tickets in person!
Located at the Biodome of the Zoo, the entrance is distinct from the Zoo's regular entrances. Simply head near the end of Zoo Boulevard towards Hermina Street, and find us at 16 Állatkerti krt. We offer convenient ticket purchasing options both online through the Zoo’s platform and on-site. On-site ticket sales will be available every evening during the event from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM, ensuring flexibility for all visitors.
