The Taste of Transylvania Festival Comes to Hungary for the first time this year. For three days, the Transylvania regional area of the Open-Air Ethnographic Museum (Skanzen) will transform into a vibrant celebration of gastronomy, tradition and community.
Since its launch in 2022, the festival has been held annually in Transylvania, where top chefs, traditional home cooks and local producers come together to celebrate the region’s rich culinary heritage. Now, for the first time, the event crosses the border to bring this unique and flavourful experience to Hungarian audiences.
Over the course of the three-day festival, leading figures from Hungarian and Transylvanian gastronomy will showcase their talent. Traditional cooks - including the legendary “Róza mama” from Máréfalva - will join Michelin-starred chefs in the “Örömfőzde” (Joy Kitchen) program. Working with the same ingredients, they will create completely different yet equally delicious dishes, which visitors will have the opportunity to taste.
Beyond the culinary experiences, culture will also take centre stage. The festival will feature film screenings, book presentations and live concerts throughout the weekend.
On Friday, 4S Street will perform, followed by Bagossy Brothers Company on Saturday, while Sunday’s program will feature the popular children’s band Alma Együttes, ensuring entertainment for all generations.
Visitors can also explore the festival’s producers’ market, where authentic Transylvanian flavours arrive in Szentendre: artisan cheeses, homemade jams, regional wines and traditional Easter ingredients will all be available.
A spring walk among the charming hills of the Skanzen, accompanied by live music and delicious food, promises a truly memorable experience.
