Whether you’re a space enthusiast, a history lover, or a curious traveller, Destination: Galaxy! promises an experience that is both educational and inspiring. The exhibition traces the evolution of science and technology from the launch of the first Sputnik in 1957, heralded as “the dawn of the Space Age.
The Space Age transformed our understanding of reality, space, and time worldwide. Observing Earth from space provided a new perspective on our planet; concepts of boundlessness and heroism took on new meanings. This shift influenced global images and ideas, opening up new horizons for imagination.
The transformation impacted humanity’s vision of the future, stirring both enthusiasm and fear. It highlights how the new relationship between imagination and reality left an imprint across various cultural fields.
At the heart of the display are the spacecraft and astronauts - from Vostok and Gagarin to the historic Moon landing, culminating in Hungary’s own space ambitions, exemplified by Bertalan Farkas’s groundbreaking journey and return to Earth.
Visitors can view objects that have travelled into space, images related to the cult of astronauts, and rare video interviews featuring key figures and influencers of the era. The exhibition also presents documents from scientific research and explores traces of the Space Age in both public and private life.
