This year’s festival motto is: "Easter in the spirit of communities." Over the two days, visitors can not only discover traditional Easter customs but also the festive traditions of ethnic communities - including Serbs, Croats, Transylvanians, and people from Upper Hungary.
If you’re searching for a truly unique Easter experience, where folk traditions come alive, children are entertained all day, and you can step into the festive customs of the past - then the Szentendre Open-Air Ethnographic Museum (Skanzen) is the perfect destination.
Visitors can also join a variety of thematic tours and special programs - highly recommended for those who want a deeper, more interactive experience.
Main programs of the 2026 Skanzen Easter Festival:
Tradition & Heritage: Egg writing and decorating, folk dancing, and traditional Easter sprinkling across the regional areas
Performances: Langaléta Garabonciások, Veronaki storytelling concert, folk music, and dance houses
Gastronomy: Traditional Easter flavors and demonstrations of chimney-baked sweet breads
Sacred Programs: Food blessing, Easter Sunday boundary walk, and thematic spiritual tours
Easter festivities will also extend into the town center, with a special holiday fair held at the Szentendre Producers’ Market on April 4, 2026. Visitors are encouraged to plan a full-day visit to the Skanzen, where the programs bring traditional Easter folk customs to life in an immersive and memorable way.
